Maryland Data Desk

Find the records behind a local education story. Start with a jurisdiction, inspect the reporting period and definitions, and download evidence you can check and cite. Coverage is source-specific. Missing or suppressed values are not zero, and similarly named measures are not necessarily comparable across states.

Limitation
MSDE's Selected Financial Data itemises the 24 county school systems; the State-operated SEED School is not in any of its tables (checked on the pinned 2024–25 report), so no figure exists for it there. Its per-pupil spending by school is on its school page.
Limitation
Maryland school systems are fiscally dependent: they levy no tax and hold no budget vote. The county (or Baltimore City) appropriates local money to its school system from its general fund, so no school tax rate or school levy exists to show. The county appropriation and the county's general property-tax rates are shown instead, labelled as the county's.
Limitation
The SEED School of Maryland is a state-operated public boarding school funded by the State; it has no county, receives no county appropriation and is not a row of MSDE's Selected Financial Data (checked on every table of the pinned 2024–25 report). No local-funding or tax figure exists for it.
Limitation
Education Article §5-115 requires county boards of education to disclose payees of $25,000 or more; the SEED School is not a county board, and Maryland's disclosure dataset has no rows for it (checked on the pinned download).
